After three years of growth, the East Asian loudspeaker market decreased by -60.1% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, posted a strong increase. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, loudspeaker exports rose markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 29%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

China prevails in exports structure, reaching X units, which was near 95% of total exports in 2021. Hong Kong SAR (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

South Korea (X units) took a 24% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Hong Kong SAR (19%). Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) and China (X units) held a little share of total imports.

Imports into Japan increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, China (+26.8%), South Korea (+21.5%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+6.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, China emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +26.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-9.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. South Korea (+20 p.p.), Japan (+7.5 p.p.) and China (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -30.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported single loudspeakers (in enclosure) in Eastern Asia, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 16% share.

In Hong Kong SAR, loudspeaker imports increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (+4.7% per year) and South Korea (+14.0% per year).
