Vegetable Price in Paraguay (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average vegetable import price amounted to $192 per ton, picking up by 8.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $286 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,262 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($146 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Vegetable Price in Paraguay (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average vegetable export price amounted to $673 per ton, falling by -20.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 168% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $842 per ton in 2021, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,576 per ton), while the average price for exports to Argentina ($100 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+18.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Vegetable Imports in Paraguay
In 2022, imports of vegetables into Paraguay expanded modestly to 151K tons, surging by 4.3% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.5% over the last three-year period.
