Consumption By Country
China (52M units) remains the largest vacuum pump consuming country worldwide, accounting for 27% of total volume. Moreover, vacuum pump consumption in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest consumer, the United States (23M units), twofold. Brazil (19M units) ranked third in terms of total consumption with a 9.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume in China totaled +3.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United States (+1.0% per year) and Brazil (-4.4% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($9.2B) led the market, alone. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($2.9B). It was followed by South Korea.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United States was relatively modest. The remaining consuming countries recorded the following average annual rates of market growth: India (+11.1% per year) and South Korea (+1.9% per year).
The countries with the highest levels of vacuum pump per capita consumption in 2022 were the UK (113 units per 1000 persons), Canada (98 units per 1000 persons) and Brazil (88 units per 1000 persons).

Overall, production, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 12%. Over the period under review, global production hit record highs at 221M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, vacuum pump production totaled $31.8B in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, recorded a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 15% against the previous year. Global production peaked at $43.6B in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.
Production By Country
The country with the largest volume of vacuum pump production was China (59M units), accounting for 32% of total volume. Moreover, vacuum pump production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Brazil (17M units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (14M units), with a 7.6% share.
In China, vacuum pump production expanded at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (-5.2% per year) and the United States (-0.1% per year).
Imports
World Imports of Vacuum Pumps
Global vacuum pump imports rose slightly to 53M units in 2022, growing by 3.2% on 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports By Country
The United States (10M units) and Germany (7.8M units) were the largest importers of vacuum pumps in 2022, recording near 19% and 15% of total imports, respectively. Among the main importing countries, Belgium, with a CAGR of +13.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices By Country
In 2022, the average vacuum pump import price amounted to $107 per unit, growing by 3.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 12%. Global import price peaked at $120 per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($451 per unit), while Hungary ($15 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
