T-Shirt Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average t-shirt import price amounted to $4.3 per unit, flattening at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $4.8 per unit in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($8.1 per unit), while the price for Morocco ($2.2 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average t-shirt export price stood at $2.7 per unit in 2022, rising by 28% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt downturn. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $7.6 per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($3.9 per unit), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($0.5 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (-1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
T-Shirt Imports in the UK
In 2022, imports of t-shirts into the UK reached 1.6B units, rising by 2.7% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 180% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, t-shirt imports skyrocketed to $2.6B in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild curtailment. Imports peaked at $2.7B in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

As a result, the exports reached the peak of 250M units, and then declined markedly in the following year.
In value terms, t-shirt exports contracted significantly to $396M in 2022. In general, exports showed a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 6.5% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $758M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
