In 2022, the average import price for nuts, edible; chestnuts (castanea spp.), fresh or dried, shelleds amounted to $3,753 per ton, with a decrease of -33.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 120%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $12,453 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($6,880 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($2,169 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+17.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
