In April 2020, the average piper pepper import price amounted to $2,312 per ton, reducing by -16.5% against the previous month. Over the last three-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2020 when the average import price increased by 23% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,767 per ton, and then reduced markedly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2020, the country with the highest price was the United States ($16,813 per ton), while the price for Ecuador ($1,150 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+88.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
