Exports in Eastern Europe

Banana exports contracted notably to X tons in 2022, waning by X% on 2021. Total exports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, banana exports contracted remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in the Czech Republic ($X per ton) and Latvia ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) and Slovakia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of bananas, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. In general, imports, however, showed a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, banana imports totaled $X in 2022. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. Belarus (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the bananas imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Romania (X%), Poland (X%), Slovakia (X%), the Czech Republic (X%) and Belarus (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Ukraine (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In Russia, banana imports expanded at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Poland (X% per year) and Ukraine (X% per year).
