Yams Price in the Philippines (FOB) - 2022
The average yams export price stood at $1,615 per ton in 2022, which is down by -2.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 49% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,654 per ton, and then fell modestly in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Australia ($1,614 per ton) and the United States ($1,614 per ton), while the average price for exports to Qatar ($1,614 per ton) and Guam ($1,614 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+37.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Yams Price in the Philippines (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average yams import price amounted to $1,554 per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2017 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +11.2% over the last five years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, yams import price increased by +69.7% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 54%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,560 per ton), while the price for Japan stood at $1,551 per ton.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+35.2%).
Yams Exports in the Philippines
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of yams decreased by -25.2% to 570 tons in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +28.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 43%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 762 tons, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, yams exports shrank dramatically to $920K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 113%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.3M, and then reduced notably in the following year.

Yams Imports in the Philippines
