Whole Fresh Milk Price in Tanzania (CIF) - 2022

The average whole fresh milk import price stood at $882 per ton in 2022, surging by 7.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 12%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $981 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Kenya ($1,010 per ton) and South Africa ($888 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($750 per ton) and Uganda ($779 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Whole Fresh Milk Price in Tanzania (FOB) - 2022

The average whole fresh milk export price stood at $1,944 per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 77% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,945 per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($9,267 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya amounted to $1,810 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (+18.0%).

Whole Fresh Milk Imports in Tanzania

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of whole fresh milk increased by 70% to 1.2K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt contraction.

In value terms, whole fresh milk imports surged to $1.1M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
