Vegetable Product Price in Latvia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average vegetable product import price amounted to $4,347 per ton, with an increase of 6.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 94%. The import price peaked at $21,633 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($13,781 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($940 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+15.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Vegetable Product Price in Latvia (FOB) - 2022

The average vegetable product export price stood at $8,743 per ton in 2022, jumping by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 344% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $40,000 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($27,680 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($2,080 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+24.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Vegetable Product Imports in Latvia

In 2022, approx. 116 tons of vegetable products were imported into Latvia; with an increase of 23% against the previous year's figure. Overall, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +20.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -8.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 91%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 127 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, vegetable product imports skyrocketed to $503K in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, vegetable product exports shrank remarkably to $318K in 2022. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +62.2% against 2020 indices.
