Urea Price in Belarus (FOB) - 2022
In April 2021, the average urea export price amounted to $274 per ton, growing by 8.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2021 when the average export price increased by 12% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $303 per ton. From March 2021 to April 2021, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In April 2021, the countries with the highest prices were Azerbaijan ($318 per ton) and Ukraine ($296 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($227 per ton) and Russia ($265 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to April 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+76.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Urea Price in Belarus (CIF) - 2022
In April 2021, the average urea import price amounted to $330 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous month. Over the last three-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +12.5%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2021 when the average import price increased by 20% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $332 per ton, leveling off in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Russia ($345 per ton), while the price for Poland ($159 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to April 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Urea Exports in Belarus
In 2022, the amount of urea exported from Belarus declined modestly to 242K tons, dropping by -4.9% against 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 11%.
In value terms, urea exports shrank remarkably to $83M in 2022. Overall, exports saw a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 118%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $113M, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

Urea Imports in Belarus
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of urea decreased by -10.6% to 133K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +46.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year.
In value terms, urea imports shrank dramatically to $44M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 163%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $64M, and then fell sharply in the following year.
