The average twine and cordage import price stood at $4,667 per ton in 2022, increasing by 47% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Greece ($8,593 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($3,075 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, the average twine and cordage export price amounted to $3,224 per ton, declining by -40.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2022 an increase of 165% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $11,597 per ton. From August 2022 to September 2022, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was China ($20,124 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($981 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+16.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
