Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023
The average temporarily preserved vegetable import price stood at $2,235 per ton in August 2023, with an increase of 12% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated resilient growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, temporarily preserved vegetable import price decreased by -2.8% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 45% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $2,300 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($2,309 per ton), while the price for Poland ($1,604 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+17.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average temporarily preserved vegetable export price amounted to $1,664 per ton, which is down by -27.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 95%. The export price peaked at $4,805 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($5,274 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($699 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Imports in Lithuania
In 2022, temporarily preserved vegetable imports into Lithuania soared to 960 tons, with an increase of 59% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports enjoyed strong growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
