The average swine; live import price stood at $67.4 per unit in September 2023, with a decrease of -5.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $86.9 per unit in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Canada.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Canada amounted to -1.8% per month.

In September 2023, the average swine; live export price amounted to $199 per unit, which is down by -4.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a mild setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 216% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $693 per unit in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($2,102 per unit), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($52.4 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
