Sweet Biscuit Price in Hong Kong SAR (FOB) - 2023
The average sweet biscuit export price stood at $11,961 per ton in September 2023, rising by 24% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 40% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $12,011 per ton in December 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($18,247 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($10,774 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Macao SAR (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Sweet Biscuit Price in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average sweet biscuit import price amounted to $4,003 per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 22% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $6,023 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($8,528 per ton), while the price for India ($2,084 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sweet Biscuit Exports in Hong Kong SAR
In 2022, approx. 5.7K tons of sweet biscuits were exported from Hong Kong SAR; which is down by -36.8% against 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 49%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 8.9K tons, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
In value terms, sweet biscuit exports declined dramatically to $55M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 83%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $101M, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

For the third year in a row, Hong Kong SAR recorded decline in supplies from abroad of sweet biscuits, which decreased by -12.5% to 18K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The smallest decline of -1.1% was in 2020.
In value terms, sweet biscuit imports declined to $86M in 2022. In general, imports showed a deep setback.
