In September 2023, the average sulphites; thiosulphates export price amounted to $320 per ton, rising by 6.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 7.7% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $490 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Guinea ($421 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($223 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (-1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average sulphites; thiosulphates import price amounted to $2,708 per ton, rising by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sulphites; thiosulphates import price increased by +53.0% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,267 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($764 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
