In July 2023, the average stainless steel angle import price amounted to $3,679 per ton, with a decrease of -37.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 152% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $7,187 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($15,259 per ton), while the price for India ($3,315 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average stainless steel angle export price stood at $17,704 per ton in 2022, jumping by 163% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 367%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Panama ($68,920 per ton), while the average price for exports to Libya ($295 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, exports recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 76%.

In value terms, stainless steel angle exports shrank sharply to $551K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 72% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $904K, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
