Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $7,247 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($9,164 per ton), while Belgium ($1,504 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +28.7% from 2012-2022. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, China ($1B) remains the largest self-adhesive printed label supplier worldwide, comprising 22% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($409M), with an 8.8% share of global exports. It was followed by Hong Kong SAR, with an 8.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China amounted to +8.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+0.1% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (-2.4% per year).

Export Prices By Country

The average self-adhesive printed label export price stood at $9,498 per ton in 2022, rising by 2.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 9.5%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $10,235 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
