Sausage Price in Canada (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average sausage import price amounted to $6,418 per ton, reducing by -1.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 8.7% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $6,545 per ton, and then dropped in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($12,745 per ton), while the price for the United States stood at $6,250 per ton.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+0.4%).
Sausage Price in Canada (FOB) - 2023
The average sausage export price stood at $4,149 per ton in June 2023, with a decrease of -7.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 15% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $4,698 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,648 per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($1,630 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Georgia (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sausage Imports in Canada
In 2022, imports of sausages and similar products of meat into Canada reached 42K tons, approximately mirroring 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 4% against the previous year.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 19K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, sausage exports skyrocketed to $69M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.8% over the last three-year period.
