Salt Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average salt import price amounted to $78.8 per ton, falling by -61.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 175% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $211 per ton. From July 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($321 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($26.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Salt Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2022
The average salt export price stood at $4,846 per ton in 2022, picking up by 392% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 425% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($208 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($112 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Salt Imports in Bulgaria
In 2022, the amount of salt and pure sodium chloride imported into Bulgaria shrank slightly to 252K tons, falling by -1.5% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 88% against the previous year.
In value terms, salt imports expanded remarkably to $14M in 2022.
