Dry Bean Production in Ghana - 2022
For the sixth consecutive year, Ghana recorded growth in production of beans (dry), which increased by 4.4% to 515K tons in 2022. The total output volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% from 2017 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the production volume increased by 9% against the previous year. Dry bean production peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future. Dry bean output in Ghana indicated strong growth, which was largely conditioned by a prominent expansion of the harvested area and a pronounced increase in yield figures.
In value terms, dry bean production stood at $358M in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, the total production indicated a prominent increase from 2017 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% over the last five-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -0.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 46%. Dry bean production peaked at $359M in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 5.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the harvested area dedicated to dry bean production attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Dry Bean Yield in Ghana - 2022
The average yield of beans (dry) in Ghana amounted to 1.6 tons per ha in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year's figure. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% from 2017 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the yield increased by 6.9%. The dry bean yield peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
