In 2022, the average import price for zinc; dust, powders and flakeses amounted to $4,107 per ton, falling by -2.8% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, zinc; dust, powders and flakes import price decreased by -35.4% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 53% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,355 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($4,367 per ton), while the price for the United States ($3,568 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

For the fourth consecutive year, Cameroon recorded growth in purchases abroad of zinc; dust, powders and flakeses, which increased by 8.1% to 4.8 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 5,775% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, zinc; dust, powders and flakes imports rose remarkably to $20K in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 5,518% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $21K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
