Price for Wine of Fresh Grapes in Tanzania (CIF) - 2022
The average wine of fresh grapes import price stood at $1.7 per litre in December 2021, picking up by 69% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $2.0 per litre in October 2021; however, from November 2021 to December 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($1.7 per litre), while the price for Spain amounted to $1.0 per litre.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Price for Wine of Fresh Grapes in Tanzania (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average wine of fresh grapes export price amounted to $1.4 per litre, with a decrease of -30.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 160%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $6.3 per litre in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Burundi ($8.3 per litre), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($0.5 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+24.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Wine of Fresh Grapes in Tanzania
In 2022, the amount of wine of fresh grapes (except sparkling wine) imported into Tanzania skyrocketed to 6.7M litres, growing by 18% compared with 2021. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +54.4% against 2020 indices.
