In June 2023, the average tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse export price amounted to $6,022 per ton, with a decrease of -6.4% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a noticeable increase from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse export price increased by +2.5% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 20% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $7,085 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($11,362 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($862 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse exports skyrocketed to $89M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +23.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +88.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 36% against the previous year.
