In July 2023, the average steel, alloy; semi-finished products export price amounted to $1,300 per ton, increasing by 13% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 23% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in July 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,734 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($871 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average steel, alloy; semi-finished products import price stood at $1,223 per ton in 2022, picking up by 10% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 29%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,184 per ton), while the price for France ($893 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
