In 2022, the average import price for spices; cardamoms, neither crushed nor ground amounted to $7,563 per ton, falling by -39.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 80% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $16,771 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($13,614 per ton), while the price for Lao People's Democratic Republic ($3,310 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+10.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $18,437 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($15,860 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($5,295 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
