In January 2024, the average import price for silicon; containing by weight less than 99.99% of silica amounted to $1,936 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2023 an increase of 11% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,814 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to January 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was China ($2,049 per ton), while the price for Russia ($1,838 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for silicon; containing by weight less than 99.99% of silica amounted to $3,833 per ton, rising by 65% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for silicon; containing by weight less than 99.99% of silica increased by +120.9% against 2019 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets.
