In December 2023, the average import price for nickel; plates, sheets, strip and foils amounted to $67,591 per ton, shrinking by -7.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2023 an increase of 144% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $73,397 per ton, and then shrank in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($85,495 per ton), while the price for China totaled $12,242 per ton.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for nickel; plates, sheets, strip and foils stood at $24,605 per ton in 2022, growing by 40% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 225% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $150,302 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Madagascar ($46,361 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($15,615 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greece (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
