Price for Nickel; Bars, Rods, Profiles and Wire in the United States (FOB) - 2024

The average export price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires stood at $44,731 per ton in September 2023, falling by -5.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 4% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $47,404 per ton, and then declined in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($68,610 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($30,995 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires stood at $37,340 per ton in September 2023, approximately mirroring the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 4% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $38,717 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($49,364 per ton), while the price for Sweden ($23,811 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
