Price for Nickel; Bars, Rods, Profiles and Wire in Germany (FOB) - 2022
The average export price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires stood at $33,698 per ton in 2022, surging by 18% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($43,126 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($25,594 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average import price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires amounted to $37,775 per ton, with an increase of 7.8% against the previous month. Over the last eight-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 20% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $39,512 per ton. From February 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($81,743 per ton), while the price for India ($29,232 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Nickel; Bars, Rods, Profiles and Wire in Germany
After two years of decline, overseas shipments of nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires increased by 16% to 16K tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a mild descent.
In value terms, exports of nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires soared to $528M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
