Price for Natural Rubber and Gum in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2022
The average natural rubber and gum import price stood at $1,718 per ton in 2022, dropping by -6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, natural rubber and gum import price increased by +47.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 48%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,998 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Greece ($128,100 per ton), while the price for Vietnam amounted to $1,602 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+67.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average natural rubber and gum export price stood at $5,756 per ton in 2022, falling by -4.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 125% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $7,183 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($6,555 per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia totaled $5,498 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+12.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Natural Rubber and Gum in Bulgaria
Natural rubber and gum imports into Bulgaria shrank to 377 tons in 2022, reducing by -11.8% on the year before. Overall, imports recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 3.8%.
In value terms, natural rubber and gum imports declined sharply to $648K in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last three-year period.
