In 2022, the average import price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses amounted to $1.8 per cubic meter, rising by 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses increased by +85.9% against 2020 indices. The import price peaked at $1.9 per cubic meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($8.4 per cubic meter), while the price for Uganda ($0.3 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kenya (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses amounted to $0.5 per cubic meter, declining by -51.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 58% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3.7 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Zambia ($1.1 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Comoros ($0.2 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mozambique (+112.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
