Price for Frozen Fish and Seafood in Tanzania (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average frozen fish and seafood export price amounted to $5,237 per ton, with a decrease of -10.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $6,046 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($7,517 per ton), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($307 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average frozen fish and seafood import price amounted to $565 per ton, shrinking by -59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 33%. The import price peaked at $1,375 per ton in 2021, and then dropped notably in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Seychelles ($684 per ton) and the United Arab Emirates ($649 per ton), while the price for China ($458 per ton) and South Korea ($538 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Yemen (-2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Frozen Fish and Seafood in Tanzania
After two years of decline, overseas shipments of frozen fish and seafood increased by 28% to 13K tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep slump.
In value terms, frozen fish and seafood exports expanded sharply to $69M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage.
