Price for Ferrous Waste and Scrap; of Cast Iron in the UK (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; of cast ira stood at $938 per ton in November 2023, which is down by -44.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 364% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,446 per ton. From August 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($9,804 per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($209 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+69.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for ferrous waste and scrap; of cast ira amounted to $494 per ton, with an increase of 5.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a mild increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 77%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $494 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,307 per ton), while the price for Ireland totaled $319 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+14.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Ferrous Waste and Scrap; of Cast Iron in the UK
In 2022, overseas shipments of ferrous waste and scrap; of cast ira were finally on the rise to reach 127K tons after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, recorded a sharp reduction.
