The average import price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds stood at $987 per ton in 2022, reducing by -17.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 33%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,220 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($1,264 per ton), while the price for Iraq ($618 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+12.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds amounted to $3,001 per ton, increasing by 10% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds increased by +36.5% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($12,282 per ton), while the average price for exports to Maldives ($1,102 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kuwait (+15.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds decreased by -29.7% to 7.3K tons in 2022. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 23%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 10K tons, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, imports of dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds fell sharply to $7.2M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 24%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $13M, and then contracted notably in the following year.
