The average import price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds stood at $340 per ton in 2022, picking up by 27% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Argentina ($395 per ton) and France ($355 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($289 per ton) and Romania ($310 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average export price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds amounted to $292 per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 4.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $349 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Ireland ($868 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brazil totaled $292 per ton.

From November 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+11.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
