The average export price for carbides; of silicon, whether or not chemically defineds stood at $1,388 per ton in February 2024, waning by -14% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2024 when the average export price increased by 8.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,791 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to February 2024, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,898 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,120 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to February 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
