In October 2023, the average import price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds amounted to $286 per ton, which is down by -69.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 90% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,258 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was North Macedonia ($286 per ton), while the price for Turkey stood at $283 per ton.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Albania (+16.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds stood at $468 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 98%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $493 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Luxembourg ($1,265 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($255 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Luxembourg (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds decreased by -11.2% to 11K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 23%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 13K tons, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, imports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds amounted to $5M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 32%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
