Price for Buttermilk and Buttermilk Powder in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
In December 2021, the average buttermilk and buttermilk powder import price amounted to $4,084 per ton, picking up by 6.7% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated perceptible growth from December 2020 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.8% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, buttermilk and buttermilk powder import price increased by +20.4% against October 2021 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2021 an increase of 13% against the previous month. The import price peaked in December 2021.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($6,831 per ton), while the price for Germany ($2,823 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price, however, recorded a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2021 when the average export price increased by 21% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,594 per ton in March 2021; however, from April 2021 to December 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Maldives ($5,066 per ton), while the average price for exports to Australia ($754 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Buttermilk and Buttermilk Powder in Malaysia
In 2022, the amount of buttermilk and buttermilk powder imported into Malaysia contracted to 11K tons, reducing by -8.4% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year.
