In June 2022, the average import price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes amounted to $750 per ton, increasing by 2.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2021 an increase of 5.1% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $816 per ton. From January 2022 to June 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($1,878 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($737 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2021 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+19.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $1,025 per ton in 2022, increasing by 6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded modest growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 152%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($3,059 per ton), while the average price for exports to Niger ($340 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Benin (+45.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, apples, pears and quinces; fresh exports declined to $7.7K in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 32%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $8.8K, and then contracted in the following year.
