Price for Anise, Badian, Fennel and Coriander in Croatia (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for anise, badian, fennel and coriander stood at $3,433 per ton in July 2023, growing by 3% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 142% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $9,194 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($12,715 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($2,497 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for anise, badian, fennel and coriander stood at $4,510 per ton in 2022, declining by -14.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 76%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $7,371 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($6,850 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($2,653 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+14.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 124%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 392 tons, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, anise, badian, fennel and coriander imports contracted slightly to $1.1M in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth.
