Price for Anise, Badian, Fennel and Coriander in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for anise, badian, fennel and coriander stood at $909 per ton in July 2023, picking up by 6.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,398 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($1,663 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($680 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+11.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for anise, badian, fennel and coriander stood at $3,941 per ton in July 2023, reducing by -5.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated prominent growth from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +8.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, anise, badian, fennel and coriander import price decreased by -27.3% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 103% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $5,424 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($34,050 per ton), while the price for Fiji ($2,082 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+28.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Anise, Badian, Fennel and Coriander in Bulgaria
Anise, badian, fennel and coriander exports from Bulgaria dropped to 18K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -10.7% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports showed a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 8.4% against the previous year.
In value terms, anise, badian, fennel and coriander exports dropped to $20M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years.
