In 2022, the average aluminium; tubes and pipes import price amounted to $3,944 per ton, declining by -12.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 50%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,946 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($13,069 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($2,129 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+19.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Aluminium; Tubes and Pipes in Sudan
In 2022, overseas purchases of aluminium; tubes and pipeses increased by 79% to 40 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a dramatic shrinkage.
