Price for Aluminium; Powders and Flakes in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021

The average aluminium; powders and flakes export price stood at $1,305 per ton in December 2021, with a decrease of -16.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2021 an increase of 52% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,632 per ton in March 2021; however, from April 2021 to December 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($4,419 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($694 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+20.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
