Preserved Sweet Corn Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023

The average preserved sweet corn export price stood at $1,639 per ton in July 2023, with a decrease of -5.8% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,739 per ton in June 2023, and then shrank in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2,194 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,270 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Preserved Sweet Corn Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average preserved sweet corn import price amounted to $978 per ton, declining by -2.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 18% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,035 per ton. From March 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($2,028 per ton), while the price for China ($680 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Preserved Sweet Corn Exports in the United States

In 2022, shipments abroad of sweet corn prepared or preserved was finally on the rise to reach 66K tons after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction.

In value terms, preserved sweet corn exports expanded significantly to $95M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern.

For the fourth year in a row, the United States recorded growth in purchases abroad of sweet corn prepared or preserved, which increased by 24% to 41K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, preserved sweet corn imports surged to $37M in 2022. In general, imports recorded significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 79%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
