Preserved Sardines Price in Slovenia (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average preserved sardines import price amounted to $6,125 per ton, declining by -13.1% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 25% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $7,051 per ton in July 2023, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($7,645 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($3,904 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Sardines Price in Slovenia (FOB) - 2022
The average preserved sardines export price stood at $5,725 per ton in 2022, dropping by -7.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 27%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,267 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($8,672 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malta ($2,397 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Sardines Imports in Slovenia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of sardines (prepared or preserved) was finally on the rise to reach 674 tons after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
In value terms, preserved sardines imports skyrocketed to $3.4M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.
