Platinum Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2022

The average platinum import price stood at $30,699,173 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -12.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $48,707,495 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Italy ($33,892,674 per ton) and Belgium ($33,009,531 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($30,172,843 per ton) and the United States ($31,570,706 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Platinum Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average platinum export price amounted to $25,412,145 per ton, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 39%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $44,837 per kg. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($27,049,932 per ton), while the average price for exports to France stood at $15,854,228 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Colombia (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Platinum Imports in Brazil

For the third consecutive year, Brazil recorded decline in supplies from abroad of platinum, which decreased by -28.1% to 805 kg in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant curtailment.

In value terms, platinum imports shrank markedly to $25M in 2022. Overall, imports faced a sharp shrinkage. The smallest decline of -26.1% was in 2021.

Platinum Exports in Brazil

Platinum exports from Brazil skyrocketed to 1.8 tons in 2022, growing by 40% on 2021 figures. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern.

In value terms, platinum exports soared to $46M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a deep setback.
