Plaster Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average plaster export price stood at $366 per ton in September 2023, picking up by 5.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 15% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $430 per ton. From January 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,571 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($224 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Colombia (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plaster Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average plaster import price amounted to $417 per ton, growing by 19% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a mild downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 36% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $488 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($965 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($357 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plaster Exports in the United States
In 2022, plaster exports from the United States expanded remarkably to 106K tons, picking up by 7.1% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 10% against the previous year.
In value terms, plaster exports rose slightly to $43M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 20%.
