Palm Kernel Oil Price in India (CIF) - 2023
The average palm kernel oil import price stood at $968 per ton in September 2023, approximately equating the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a pronounced shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 9.3% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,328 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Sierra Leone ($1,000 per ton), while the price for Malaysia totaled $967 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (-2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Palm Kernel Oil Price in India (FOB) - 2022
The average palm kernel oil export price stood at $2,603 per ton in 2022, falling by -35.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 162% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $5,596 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($3,943 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($1,529 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iran (+13.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Palm Kernel Oil Imports in India
Palm kernel oil imports into India contracted remarkably to 85K tons in 2022, falling by -35.9% against 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 6.9% against the previous year.
In value terms, palm kernel oil imports dropped notably to $138M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 84%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $188M, and then reduced notably in the following year.

Palm Kernel Oil Exports in India
After two years of decline, overseas shipments of palm kernel and babassu oil increased by 23% to 56 tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a sharp descent.
In value terms, palm kernel oil exports reduced dramatically to $146K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant curtailment.
