Onion and Shallot Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average onion and shallot import price amounted to $596 per ton, growing by 4.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $677 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($661 per ton), while the price for North Macedonia ($310 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Onion and Shallot Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average onion and shallot export price amounted to $280 per ton, increasing by 13% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, onion and shallot export price increased by +28.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 49% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($375 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($161 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third consecutive year, Serbia recorded decline in purchases abroad of onion and shallot, which decreased by -29.4% to 7.6K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a dramatic decrease. The smallest decline of -9.6% was in 2021.
